OPJMSians outshine in VVM 2016-17

 Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2016-17 is a national talent search program for Future India conducted jointly by Vigyan Bharti, NCERT and Vigyan Prasar, for educating and popularizing science among school students studying in classes VI to XI.  In the first stage of the programme, a Written Test was held on 20 November 2016 at the school level wherein 60 students appeared.

13 students of OPJMS qualified the VVM Level I Examination. These students escorted by Mr Narendra Kr Sharma, PGT(Physics) attended a State Level Assessment Camp at NIT, Kurukshetra on 14 April 2017. After eight rounds of rigorous tests in various categories, 4 students, Sahil & Ayush of class IX, Kartikeya  of class X and Prerna of class XII were selected for the National Level Camp held at IIT, Delhi from 27 to 28 May 2017.  Sahil and Kartikeya were selected to represent Haryana for class IX and X respectively in the National Camp. They were felicitated with a Cash Prize of Rs.5000, Memento and a Certificate of Merit for securing State Rank 1. Ayush and Prerna received a Cash Prize of Rs.3000 each, mementos and Certificates of Merit for securing State Rank 2 in their respective categories.

44 students from all over the country participated in each class. The two day national camp held at IIT-Delhi gave students exposure to the true synergy of science. The event was graced by many dignitaries such as Dr Sudhir Kumar Mishra, Distinguished Scientist and Director, Ministry of Defence and CEO & MD, Brahmos; Director of IIT Delhi; Director of NCERT;  Dr Rama Jaysunder, Scientist at AIIMS and many more. Various competitions held during the camp comprised of a practical round in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, a quiz on General Science and the new developments in the scientific arena. Apart from Science, students were also tested on their leadership qualities. 



The most significant round consisted of presentation on the contribution of an Indian scientist in the field of Science and Technology which had a significant effect across the world wherein Kartikeya presented the marvelous work of Sir C.V. Vishweshwara on his contribution in the field of Black Hole and Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. He bagged the First National Rank and has also been declared as one of the Himalayans.  He has been felicitated with a cash prize of  Rs.10,000/-, a Certificate and Memento of VVM jointly by the Director, IIT Delhi and the Director, NCERT in a formal ceremony at IIT Delhi Campus held on 28 May 2017. He was specially invited by Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India on 14 June 2017 at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi in order to felicitate him on his remarkable achievement.
