Simulation of Model United Nations (OPJMS MUN)

OPJMS organized OPJMSMUN – 2016 from 30 Sept. to 1 Oct 2016 to provide a plethora of opportunities to the young minds to cultivate and nourish ingenuity, leadership skills, mental agility, confidence and persuasiveness in them and enable them to explore viable solution for all international, environmental and human rights violation issues that have plagued the world. 


Prof. Harbhajan Bansal was the chief guest in the opening ceremony of the conference which was attended by about 200 hundred students from 10 leading educational institutions of the country.


The two days of the conference were thriving with discussions debating thus simulating and enhancing refine skills sets of young delegates to take on global challenges. The five committees namely – United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Women, United Nations Development Program and All India Political Party Meet deliberated upon the issues vital in today’s scenario such as – Assessing the impact on International Peace and security due to South China Sea issue, Assessing the impact of human rights violations on Syrian refugees, changing climate and rapidly growing exposure to disaster risk, Women empowerment in the context of global economic and financial crisis and deliberation on the provisions of Article 370.


The Executive Board Members selected the Best Delegates from all five forums who were awarded trophies in the closing ceremony which was chaired by Dr. S.K. Mishra, Principal, GDC Memorial College, Bahal. Harshita from OP Jindal Modern School was adjudged the Best Delegate from All India Political Party Meet, Hardik from Scholars Rossary, Rohtak was the Best delegate from United Nations Human Rights Council, Sanyam from St. Mary’s School, Hisar was chosen as the best delegate from United Nations General Assembly, Muskan from Delhi Public School, Hisar was adjudged as the Best delegate from UN Women, Rehan Jagota from Birla School, Pilani was the Best delegate from United Nations Development Program whereas Aadarsh Anand from Sainik School Kunjpura, Karnal was adjudged as the best reported. The best school delegation award was bagged by OP Jindal Modern School, Hisar. The very objective of OPJMSMUN-2016 to engender innovation, creativity complied with rational contribution for strengthening harmony, peace and fraternity was well achieved.
