  • Educational Goals
    The school endeavors to provide education in a stress-free atmosphere. Maintaining a teacher pupil ration of 1:20, the school encourages a spirit of enquiry among the students rather than information oriented pedantic learning. While encouraging a spirit of initiative, independence and self-reliance, a value-based undercurrent is maintained in keeping with the aims and objectives of the school. Every effort is directed to enrich the students with knowledge of the rich cultural heritage of the country. The general environment of the school is woven round the age-old reverence for the teachers, elders, a spirit of tolerance and love for the motherland.

    The school synthesizes the best of the oriental and the occidental education to make a good and True Indian and World Citizen. The school has evolved a pattern of 'Holistic' education, which aims at developing the intellect, the physique and social consciousness of the growing child. The school strives to instill devotion, loyalty and 'never give in' determination into the beings of the learners. The basic aim underlines the formation of a resolute character, a well groomed personality with appropriate thoughts full of reason towards meaningful actions.

  • Awards and Prizes

  • The recognition of a child for his/her achievements is very important. This recognition is an important boon that provides the necessary fillip to carry forth the hard work and also instills in students a sense of confidence along with the pleasure of success. Jindal Modern School offers a variety of academic and non-academic prizes to the achievers in different fileds. Children are awarded prizes for achievements in Inter-house and inter school competitions and sports and games.

  • Criteria for merit holders

  • To encourage hard work and appreciate a student for his/her commendable performance in academics, all students who score marks above a certain percentage in a specific class are awarded certificates and trophies. The cut off percentage in different classes for being a merit holder is as under :-
    LKG to II       95% and above
    III to V         90% and above
    VI to IX        85% and above
    XI                80% and above

  • Best Efforts

  • Students who show remarkable improvement in overall performance especially, academics, during the session are also awarded prizes.

  • Participation in School Events.

  • Children who actively and whole heartedly participate in any important school event are also awarded certificates of appreciation.
    Office Bearers : Office bearers of the Student’s Council are awarded a certificate of appreciation.

  • Teacher Enrichment Programme

  • Teachers are among the basic components working relentlessly towards the realization of the multiple objectives of OP Jindal Modern School.
    It is important that this segment of the school remains well-informed about the latest in their respective fields. To enable the teachers perform to the tune of the time, the school hosts regular Faculty Development Programmes/Seminars on each subject to update teachers' knowledge and to enhance their teaching skills.
    While such programmes make us believe that education is a never-ending process, they also provide opportunities to the teachers to educate themselves, refine and update their knowledge. The Faculty Development Programmes/Seminars have in-house experts as well as those from outside.

  • Student Development Programme

  • Resource persons are invited from outside to conduct Seminars and Workshops for students in issues concerning the healthy and an all round development of students. Extension lectures related to subjects are also delivered to them. Some of the topics dealt with are career counselling, stress management, positive thinking, healthy living, learning skills etc. The school reserves the right to alter/amend/add delete any of the provisions mentioned in the prospectus. The changes shall be binding on all.

  • Tests and Examinations

  • Weekly Unit Tests
    Four weekly tests for every subject are held as per schedule. These tests form an integral part of the school assessment policy.

    Note :- Students are supposed to write all weekly tests for a specific subject in a test note book assigned for it at the beginning of the session. If a student fails to bring it on the day of the test, he/she may be penalized.

    Students are expected to get the test note books signed by their parents after every test. In case the date given for a particular weekly test is declared a holiday owing to some unforeseen reasons, the test would be held on the next working day.
    Absenteeism in test
    (i) If a child misses one unit test, then he/she is considered for merit after being awarded a zero.
    (ii) In case of absenteeism in more than one unit test, the child will be awarded zeroes and not considered for merit.
    (iii) Medical Leave - The child will be considered for merit after awarding him/her a zero for medical leave. If he/she fails to qualify for merit, then average marks will be given and result calculated accordingly.

  • Examinations

  • Besides weekly tests spread throughout the session, two full fledged examinations termed as Mid Term and Final Assessment are conducted in school in the months of September and March respectively.

    On the day of examination, before the child leaves his house for school, parents are to ensure that.
    i) The writing board carried by their ward is absolutely clean with no scribbling of any kind on any corner.
    ii) No calculators are carried to school.
    iii) No old question papers are retained in pockets or pencil boxes.
    iv) No scales are carried which have certain mathematics.

    Note : If a child is caught using unfair means or violating any of the above mentioned rules, the child would be debarred from answering his paper. No excuse of any kind will be entertained thereafter.

  • Promotion

  • OP Jindal Modern School has made significant strides in academics. The school follows grading system for Junior School i.e. from classes LKG to Class V, for the two major exams regular assessment of the academic performance of students. Weekly Unit Tests, Mid Term and Final Assessments are the two major exams scheduled in the calendar. However, regularity in attendance is also given prime importance. In addition to the above, a continuous assessment of the child is carried out throughout the academic session to evaluate his/her performance on a day-to-day basis in academic and extra curricular areas. The overall annual performance of a student is judged on the year’s average score calculated by adding 20% marks of Unit Test, 30% marks of Mid Term and 50% marks of the Final Assessment. A student scoring a minimum of 40% or above in aggregate in every subject will be granted promotion. The result declared at the end of the session is final in all respects.

    Implementation of New Programmes
  • Model Junior Programme

  • Keeping in view our objective, which is, to impart quality education based on the latest trends that measure up to international standards, we have implemented Model Junior Programme w.e.f. 1st May 2007. The programme aims at transforming educational processes in Junior School so as to provide holistic education to the students.

    It is a system based on academic excellence which is in line with the best educational systems of the western world and also in tune with our rich cultural heritage and traditions.

    The project brings together the most progressive ideas in education adapted to the Indian context. It is a three phased programme based on step by step progress, persistent and mutual trust.

    M/s Disha India is the partener with the OPJMS in taking the responsibility of designing the teaching and learning processes that enhance understanding and capacity to learn.

  • YLE Programme

  • University of Cambridge has launched various courses in English Teaching and Learning at different levels. Mrs. Nisha Bhatnagar, Mrs Amrita Chandra and Mrs Gurpreet Kaur attended the workshops organized for YLE (Young Learners English) and FCE (First Certificate English) courses at British Council Division, New Delhi.

    The Cambridge Young Learners Tests are taken by children all around the world. These are intended for students of classes III, IV and V. The objective is preparing students for future English Tests which are used for overseas education and international career.

    FCE is developed for classes IX to XII to make them proficient in English comprehension, speaking and writing skills.

    30 students of our school from classes III, IV and V are appearing for the YLE test scheduled in February 2008.
