O P Jindal Modern School, Hisar, successfully hosted the prestigious O P Jindal Memorial Inter-School English Debate Competition on 7th August 2026, bringing together the finest young orators from leading schools . The event provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and analytical abilities while engaging in meaningful discussions on contemporary issues.The participants debated on two thought-provoking topics:Topic A: "The Increasing Emphasis on Individual Freedom is Weakening the Sense of Collective Responsibility Necessary for a Healthy Society."Topic B: "The Modern Obsession with Hyper Specialization and Careerism has Fundamentally Broken the True Purpose of School Education."The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a soulful Shloka recitation and a graceful cultural presentation, setting an inspiring tone for the competition.The event was judged by an eminent panel of academicians comprising Dr. Sunita Bhargava, Former Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, F.C. College for Women, Hisar, and Gold Medalist in M.A. and M.Phil.; Dr. Aparna Sharma, Former Professor and Head, Department of Languages and Haryanvi Culture and Joint Director (Retd.), Directorate of Human Resource Management, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar; and Dr. Sunil Vashisht, Professor and Head, Department of English, Dayanand College, Hisar. Their insightful observations and valuable feedback greatly enriched the learning experience for all the participants.After a series of highly competitive and intellectually stimulating debates, the judges declared the results.In the 'For the Motion' category, Shonima Setia of O P Jindal Modern School, Hisar emerged as the winner. Aditya Dhaka of K L Arya DAV Public School, Hisar secured the first runner-up position, while Paridhi Kothriwal of Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar was adjudged the second runner-up. Himanshi of Small Wonder Public School, Hisar received the third runner-up position.In the 'Against the Motion' category, Sachi Sahewala of Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar was declared the winner. Lipi Garg of O P Jindal Modern School, Hisar secured the first runner-up position, followed by Devyani of Small Wonder Public School, Hisar as the second runner-up and Poorva Goyal of K L Arya DAV Public School, Hisar as the third runner-up.For the team championship, O P Jindal Modern School, Hisar, being the host school, emerged as the overall winner. As per the tradition of the competition, the championship trophy was presented to the next highest-scoring school, Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar. K L Arya DAV Public School, Hisar secured the first runner-up position, followed by Small Wonder Public School, Hisar as the second runner-up and Little Angels School, Sonipat as the third runner-up.The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished judges, participating schools, teachers, organisers, volunteers, and students for making the competition a grand success. The programme ended with the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired by the spirit of healthy competition, articulate expression, and intellectual excellence.The judges encouraged students to continue nurturing the qualities of logical reasoning, confidence, and effective communication that are essential for future leaders.
